Upstream HSSSE Management & Offshore Facility Safety is a 10-week (400+ hour) industrial training attachment conducted with Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation (Uganda) under the Tilenga EPSCC Project for Uganda Petroleum Institute, Kigumba (UPIK). Attached to the Health, Safety, Social, Security, and Environment (HSSSE) Department, the program focuses on site safety governance, high-risk operational supervision, environmental monitoring, and marine/offshore safety across active well pads, pipeline Rights-of-Way (ROW), and the Lake Water Abstraction (LWA) facility on Lake Albert. Topics covered include facilitating site safety inductions and daily Toolbox Talks (TBTs); auditing Permit to Work (PTW), JHEA, and HIRA documentation; supervising pipeline welding, HDPE butt fusion, and crane/sideboom lifting operations; monitoring subaqueous dredging, piling, and marine safety at the LWA site; executing environmental spill containment, waste segregation, and turbidity/noise monitoring; and completing certified H3SE trainings in Confined Space Entry, TWSA First Aid/AED/CPR, and Excavation Safety.

Earning Criteria

Participation

Complete 10 weeks (400+ hours) of HSSSE industrial attachment across well pads, pipeline ROWs, and Lake Water Abstraction (LWA) facilities on the Tilenga EPSCC Project.

Assignment

Facilitate daily TBTs and site inductions, audit PTW/JHEA records, supervise lifting and hot work operations, and manage environmental spill containment and waste segregation.

Test

Pass certified site HSSSE evaluations for Confined Space Entry, First Aid/AED/CPR, Work Area Hazard Assessment, and Construction PTW Procedures.
