Description

Petroleum Engineering, HSE & Multi-Disciplinary Field Operations is an 8-week (360+ hour) third-year industrial training attachment conducted with Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation Uganda Ltd on the Tilenga Project for Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). Spanning offsite well pads, pipeline routes, lake water abstraction areas, yards, and the Drilling Support Base (DSB) processing workshop, the program delivers comprehensive field exposure across nine technical and safety disciplines. Topics covered include Permit to Work (PTW) auditing and HIRA in HSE; electrical isolation (LOTO) and confined space cellar entry in EIT; the 5-stage pipeline hydrotest process (cleaning, gauging, drying, nitrogen purging, pressurization); field metrology well RTD/PSV calibration; Non-Destructive Testing (VT, PT, MT, ET, UT/PAUT/TOFD, RT); Welder Qualification Testing (WQT); civil QA/QC inspection and RFI sign-offs; and well completions, ESP/ESPCP artificial lift servicing, and horizontal Christmas tree maintenance at the DSB.

Participation

Complete an 8-week (360+ hour) multi-departmental field attachment with Sinopec Uganda across offsite well pads, pipeline routes, and DSB workshop facilities on the Tilenga Project.

Audit daily PTW logs, monitor pipeline pigging and hydrotest pressurization, perform RTD upscale/downscale calibration, conduct civil RFI inspections, and service packer-setting tools.
