This is an opportunity for you to join content expert Demetra Logothetis, RDH, MS and other fellow educators to discuss strategies for teaching Local Anesthesia. Often a challenging course for students and instructors alike, attendees will explore different ways to construct their lecture and lab curriculums to maximize student learning.
Objectives:
- Develop strategies, challenges and innovative ideas for teaching local anesthesia in both classroom and clinic
- Understand the CODA standards for teaching pain control
- Understand the components of regional local anesthesia licensure examinations
- Discuss how to develop and integrate case-based learning into a local anesthesia course
- Discuss the importance of patient consent
- Develop faculty calibration exercises
- Develop student assessments to incorporate critical thinking skills, and to evaluate learning at the appropriate level
- Discuss student remediation procedures
- Discuss updates in local anesthesia
