To earn the Cargo Lashing & Securing certification, recipients must successfully complete a rigorous technical and practical training program. This course is designed to transition personnel from basic awareness to professional competence in load restraint and road transport safety.
Certification Requirements
In order to receive this award, participants are required to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
Theory Assessment: Candidates must pass a comprehensive evaluation covering the physics of transport, including acceleration coefficients ( forward, lateral) and frictional force calculations.
Practical Application: Participants must perform hands-on exercises to correctly apply various lashing methods, such as Top-over, Loop, Spring, and Straight lashing.
Hardware Competence: Recipients must demonstrate the proper selection and operation of tensioning tools, including ratchet straps, lever binders, and fixed winches.
Risk Identification: Trainees are required to conduct pre-trip inspections to identify damaged lashing gear and recognize potential hazards like poor load distribution or improper packaging.
Safety Compliance: Participants must show a clear understanding of international standards, such as EN 12195-1, and national transport regulations to ensure full operational compliance.

Load Balancing: Ability to distribute cargo evenly across vehicle axles to maintain stability and prevent vehicle rollover.
Direct Restraint Execution: Skills in utilizing blocking, bracing, and chocking to immobilize cargo independently of friction.
Calculated Securing: Proficiency in determining the required number of straps by calculating the Aggregate Working Load Limit (AWLL) relative to total cargo weight.
Hazmat Awareness: Knowledge of the classification and specific handling requirements for the nine classes of hazardous cargo.

Load Balancing: Ability to distribute weight evenly across vehicle axles to maintain stability, steering control, and center of gravity
Hardware Operation: Practical experience in the correct tensioning of ratchet straps, cam buckles, and lever binders
Pre-Trip Inspection: Competence in conducting rigorous inspections of lashing gear for minor damage, wear, or reduced effectiveness prior to dispatch
Standard Compliance: Knowledge of international and national regulations, specifically the EN 12195-1 standards for road transport
Hazardous Cargo Handling: Understanding the classification and specific transport requirements for dangerous goods (Hazmat), including labeling and UN-approved packaging
