A Volunteer Mentor plays a facilitative and developmental role in supporting volunteers throughout their placement and community project lifecycle. The mentor provides guidance, structure, and feedback to ensure that assigned volunteers successfully complete their placements and deliver an agreed community project within a stipulated timeframe. The role combines elements of coaching, supervision, and project facilitation. Volunteer Mentors act as a bridge between the host organisation, project objectives, and volunteers’ individual learning needs. Beyond task completion, the mentor is expected to nurture volunteers’ professional skills, sense of responsibility, and community awareness, while ensuring alignment with organisational and social impact goals.
