MDTA Leadership Investment for Tomorrow (LIFT)
The LIFT program is a competitive leadership development program for high-performing MDTA employees who are ready to grow into leadership roles. Participants complete approximately 40 hours of training across seven weekly sessions, including workshops, guest speakers, field tours, and a final presentation to the executive team.
Session 1 — Identifying Different Leadership Styles
Leadership vs. management, the Expert → Manager → Leader progression, and the "Lead Yourself / Lead Together" framework.
Session 2 — Identifying Your Own Leadership Style
CliftonStrengths assessment, SMART goal setting, personal accountability systems, and delegation.
Session 3 — Influencing and Developing Others
VARK learning styles, employee motivation, engagement strategies, and building organizational commitment.
Session 4 — Leadership Communication Foundations
Emotional intelligence (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management), four types of communication, and giving and receiving feedback using the STAR technique.
Session 5 — Developing Your Team
Types of teams, stages of team development, conflict resolution strategies, and managing difficult workplace situations.
Session 6 — Empowerment Through Effective Presentations
Presentation development, voice and body language, building confidence as a public speaker, and peer rehearsal.
Session 7 — Planning for Your Future and Closing Ceremony
Strategic thinking, systems thinking, job crafting, and a closing ceremony featuring a fireside chat with executive leadership and final participant presentations.
