Description

The BPHC AI Essentials for Public Health Certificate Series was a professional learning program designed for Boston Public Health Commission staff to build practical understanding and responsible use of artificial intelligence in public health practice. The series addressed AI literacy, prompt engineering, evaluation of AI-generated outputs, cybersecurity, responsible and equitable AI use, bias awareness, governance, human oversight, and applied uses of AI in public health work. Participants explored how to ask more effective questions and prompts, assess AI outputs before use, recognize potential sources of bias, apply appropriate human review and governance, and use AI thoughtfully in areas such as public health communication and culturally responsive health messaging.
