The AI Foundations & Applied Intelligence Certificate provides a practical introduction to artificial intelligence as it applies to the electrical contracting and construction environment—from the jobsite to the office and the executive level. Participants learn how AI supports field operations, safety management, compliance, workforce coordination, estimating, documentation, and leadership decision-making, all without requiring technical or coding expertise.

The certification focuses on real-world electrical contracting use cases, specifically covering what AI is—and is not—in the context of construction and skilled trades. It details how modern AI tools interpret text, documents, images, schedules, and data commonly used in the field. A key theme is why AI augments electricians, foremen, project managers, safety leaders, and executives rather than replacing them, clarifying where AI belongs and where human expertise must remain in charge. Additionally, the course teaches how to use AI ethically and responsibly in both union and non-union environments, how to communicate its use transparently with crews, clients, and stakeholders, and why trust, experience, and field knowledge remain irreplaceable.

Upon completion, participants are able to confidently explain AI concepts in plain language relevant to electrical contracting, apply AI to real field, safety, office, and leadership scenarios, and use AI to reduce paperwork and administrative burden. Furthermore, they will improve jobsite communication and documentation accuracy, support safer, more compliant, and more efficient operations, and make better-informed decisions while keeping people at the center.
