The SSI2026 Global Safe Sport Conference, held at the University of Cape Town, South Africa from 25–27 May 2026, brought together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, athletes, coaches, safeguarding officers, and sport leaders from around the world to advance athlete safety and well-being.

The conference featured keynote presentations, research sessions, workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities focused on creating safer sporting environments through evidence-based practice, collaboration, education, and leadership. Participants engaged with current developments in safeguarding, athlete welfare, governance, prevention of abuse and misconduct, and the promotion of positive sport cultures.
