The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Community Science Alliance is transforming environmental stewardship in Arizona and saving the state millions of dollars. This agency-wide initiative, among the first for regulatory agencies in the nation, empowers community members to participate in environmental data collection for air, water, and land. The program has facilitated the collection of thousands of credible environmental data records, fostering active volunteer engagement and collaboration between government officials and local citizens. This has resulted in the removal of substantial amounts of trash and human waste from Arizona's waterways.
