The Vista Institute's National Security Law and AI Course is an advanced course exploring the rapidly evolving legal and policy questions raised by artificial intelligence in the U.S. national security context. Designed for legal professionals, policymakers, researchers, and others working at the intersection of AI and national security, the course examines how existing legal frameworks apply to emerging AI capabilities and the policy challenges they create. The course explored key issues across U.S. Domestic AI Policy & Industry, Global AI Governance, and Military Applications of AI & Modern Warfare, giving participants opportunities to develop deeper expertise through focused concentrations. The course featured leading legal, policy, and technical experts from prominent think tanks, frontier AI companies, universities, and other institutions working at the intersection of AI and national security. Through expert-led sessions and discussion groups, participants engaged with emerging debates in AI law and policy and examined the legal, institutional, and strategic questions shaping the development and governance of AI in national security.
