The Office of International Student Affairs (OISA) provides holistic support and guidance on every aspect of international student life at Wesleyan—immigration, cultural, academic, financial, and personal matters.
Description
This badge is awarded to Wesleyan student leaders in recognition of their outstanding commitment to fostering cross-cultural understanding on the Wesleyan campus. Recipients complete orientation and intercultural awareness sessions, and serve as formal mentors for new international students for an academic semester through the International Buddy Program (IBP), administered by the Office of International Student Affairs (OISA) . Responsibilities include providing weekly guidance to help new students navigate academic and social systems, demonstrating strong capabilities in cross-cultural communication, adaptability, active listening, and empathetic support—key competencies for thriving in global and diverse workplaces. Participants report to the OISA Assistant Director of International Student Engagement.

Earning Criteria
Participation
Complete Required Training: Attend and participate in all orientation and intercultural awareness sessions facilitated by the Office of International Student Affairs (OISA) at Wesleyan University.

Serve as a Mentor: Commit to a full academic semester of service as a designated mentor for newly arrived international students.

Report to OISA Leadership: Maintain regular communication and fulfill responsibilities under the supervision of the OISA Assistant Director of International Student Engagement.
