This course is designed to provide K-12 teachers a foundational understanding of what AI is, how it works, its affordances and limitations, and essential aspects of AI literacy. Participants will learn about AI’s impact in various fields and how AI can be effectively and responsibly used. Students will learn how to combine their own content knowledge with technical prompting techniques and iterative prompting to ensure that the AI output meets their needs. Algorithmic bias and ethical dilemmas will be explored. Throughout the course, participants will develop a digital portfolio to demonstrate their proficiency in AI and to support others in continued learning about how AI can enhance education. In this course, participants will identify an organization focused on AI in education and will attend at least one meeting during the course.
