Description
The holder of this certificate attended the webinar on Citizen Science in Astronomy, entitled 'Astronomy for All: Your First Step into Citizen Research', organised by Trishul Observatory, in collaboration with the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC), Konnagar Space Lab, SA Citizen Science Group, and Vigyancharchar Asar. 'Astronomy for All: Your First Step into Citizen Research' was an online introductory webinar designed to help participants explore how anyone can contribute to real scientific research through citizen science, with a special focus on astronomy and astrophysics. This session introduces the principles of citizen research and highlights how public participation supports professional scientific projects around the world. The webinar was conducted by Sanchayan Sarkar (IASC Regional Volunteer (India), SciStarter Champion, Kilonova Hunter, and Astronomy Enthusiast), who shared practical examples of citizen science in action, explain how beginners can get involved, and discuss tools and platforms that enable participation from home. Participants learnt about observing space objects, engaging with real-time astrophysical data, and contributing meaningfully to ongoing research projects—without requiring prior academic or research experience. The session concluded with a live question-and-answer segment.
