They have demonstrated proficient or advanced competencies through program activities and assessments over the course of approximately 430 hours of study. These earners have practiced JD Next and LSAC LawReady skills to earn legal profession competencies such as: 1) argumentative writing through legal memoranda completions, 2) Westlaw legal researching, 3) IRAC and FIRAC case briefing using LSAC LawReady rubrics and JD Next technology, 4) argumentative speaking and active listening through oral arguments in a moot court performance held at the NC Supreme Court before sitting justices of the Supreme Court or Court of Appeals, 5) Core Grammar for College proficiency, 6) argumentative speaking and active listening in oral arguments during a mock trial performance, 7) JD Next certification, 8) active listening and argumentative writing through the Socratic method in torts, constitutional law, and contracts law immersion, 9) active listening, argumentative writing, and conscientiousness skill development through an assigned 6-week legal internship with a public agency, court, or business general counsel's office, 10) logic development through LSAT preparation, 11) active listening through service as a Student Conduct Board judicial member, 12) active listening through service as a student mediator, 13) active listening and argumentative speaking through service as a non-attorney advocate for student conduct parties, 14) argumentative writing through development and potential publication pursuit of a substantial legal research article, and/or 15) speaking and active listening by leading FSU's Constitutional Law Day program.
