Description

The Magnify Startup Internship Program is an opportunity for undergraduate students with upperclassman standing interested in gaining hands-on experience working with a scientific start-up company at the CNSI (California NanoSystems Institute) facilities of UCLA. Student applicants selected are matched with a current Magnify portfolio start-up company for an 8 month internship experience during the academic school year (Oct - May). Magnify Interns also participate in several career development workshops throughout the length of the program. These include LinkedIn and resume guidance, career planning, and networking activities. Interns also have one-on-one mentorship with company leadership on a quarterly basis, as well as quarterly check-ins with the CNSI workforce development staff. Magnify Interns present a final project in culmination of their efforts during the program at the end of the academic year.

Assignment

All interns are required to deliver a final presentation in person during the culminating program event. Drawing on workshops provided, staff feedback, and guidance from mentors, interns present a printed scientific poster or a slide presentation in the form of a startup pitch. The final presentation is an opportunity to demonstrate communication skills, reflect on accomplishments, and share the value of your work with fellow interns, mentors, and program partners.
