This experience is intended to provide fellows with knowledge about foundational education policy topics, advocacy and leadership skills to help them drive change from within – or outside of – government, a network of peer professionals who share an interest in education, access to potential mentors and key education policy leaders, and opportunities to advance their careers.

Earning Criteria
Participation
Participate in Education Policy Sessions on topics including education finance, accountability, models of school choice, the future of learning and schools, curriculum, teaching, college/career pathways, and more. This includes reading or watching assigned material ahead of each meeting, asking questions of the experts and policy practitioners who will present during these sessions, and engaging in class discussions and exercises.
Participation
Participate in Changemaker Skill Sessions on topics including reading and drafting legislation, writing policy memos, using storytelling for policy reform, advising high-level decision-makers, the career arcs of education reformers, and more. Each of these provides an opportunity for fellows to develop the kinds of skills that are necessary to drive policy change.
Participation
Attend the in-person fly-in weekend featuring engaging speakers, a day-long policy development exercise, and intensive networking and relationship-building among participants.
Assignment
Complete required elective opportunities by choosing to attend, read, or watch three self-selected education-related offerings, including webinars, policy debates, panel discussions, academic papers, or books.
Participation
Meet with other members of the cohort in virtual coffees throughout the fellowship as assigned by ERA leaders.
