Description
Talk the Talk is a practical, interactive workshop developed by RFCS Victoria West to equip rural service providers, suppliers, and community members with the skills and confidence to support others experiencing mental health challenges.
Designed specifically for those working in agriculture and regional communities, the 2–3 hour session focuses on:
Awareness – Understanding mental health in farming communities, and recognising who farmers are most likely to confide in
Observation – Identifying early signs that someone may be struggling
Communication Skills – Learning what to say, how to say it, and how to start meaningful conversations
Crisis Support – Knowing what to do if someone is in immediate danger or needs urgent help
Grief & Loss – Understanding emotional responses to crisis, change, and uncertainty
Protective Factors – Building community connection and practical ways to check in and provide support
Talk the Talk is delivered by RFCS Vic West’s qualified wellbeing team who understand the unique challenges of rural life. The session is suitable for agronomists, vets, contractors, field officers, bankers, health providers, and anyone who interacts with farmers and regional residents.
By improving confidence and communication around mental health, Talk the Talk helps create stronger, more connected communities.
