Earning Criteria
Participation
Selection is based on demonstrated technical ability and understanding of defensive security. Candidates are evaluated through hands on virtual machine hardening, where they secure systems against common threats and misconfigurations. They are also interviewed on incident response techniques, assessing how they detect, analyze, and respond to security events. Those who work well on a team and show strong practical skills and clear reasoning are selected.
Participation
Training spans 12 months of weekly meetings focused on hands on defensive security. Members secure and maintain critical services, practice Linux and Windows hardening, and develop scripts to support detection and response. The program includes seven extended 8 hour sessions of active defense against live attackers across intercollegiate environments, invitationals, and internal red vs blue exercises, building real experience operating under pressure.
