The Emergency First Aid at Work, EFAW course is designed to provide learners with the essential knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to respond safely and effectively to a workplace first aid emergency. The course covers the role and responsibilities of a first aider, safe scene assessment, casualty care, CPR, AED use, recovery position, choking, bleeding, shock, minor injuries, and the immediate management of an injured or ill casualty until professional medical help arrives. This qualification is suitable for workplaces where a first aid needs assessment identifies the requirement for emergency first aid provision. The course is delivered and assessed in line with the requirements of the Health and Safety First Aid Regulations 1981 and current first aid practice. HSE describes EFAW as training that enables a first aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill at work.
