In Canada, women-identifying and gender-diverse entrepreneurs own 31% of businesses yet receive only 3 to 4% of venture capital investment.

Research shows that the language investors use when speaking with women entrepreneurs contributes to this gap.

In response, the Canadian Women’s Chamber of Commerce developed the Flip the Script Investment Readiness Program. This program equips entrepreneurs with practical communication strategies to recognize and respond to bias in investor conversations. Through guided learning and structured practice, participants build the ability to reframe questions, strengthen their positioning, and communicate with clarity and confidence.

The program includes applied exercises that simulate real investor interactions, helping participants refine their responses until they become instinctive in high pressure settings.

A grant from the Government of Canada’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Strategy made the development of the Flip the Script program possible.
